Jillian was bright eyed and bushy tailed today

Jill Bug

Not many changes today. Mommy had a talk with Jillian about taking her bottles like a big girl, but bless her heart she just gets tired. Our goal is for her to take 4 out of 8 feedings from a bottle tonight/tomorrow. If she does, they'll increase to 6 out of 8 and we'll be that much closer to bringing her home.

A quick update

Avery checking out Cat
Jillian got a big girl bed today!

Sweet Jillian...check out those cheeks!

What a big girl!!

Both girls are doing great! Avery is eating like crazy and loves to entertain us with her noises and facial expressions. Jillian moved into a big girl crib today. Please continue to pray for her recovery. At this time they are feeding her from a bottle every other time she eats because she gets tuckered out. In order to go home, she must take all of her feedings from bottles. We pray that she will get strong enough to finish all of her bottles everyday.

Good day for Jill Bug and bath time for Avery

Jillian and Mommy
Dad came down after work

This feels nice mom

Hair washing time, my favorite!

I don't like this part at all.

Fancy Avery

Today was another big day for the girls. Avery went to her first doctor's appointment to get a check up and make sure she's growing. She's grown 1 inch since birth and gained 5 oz over the weekend...little piggy! Dr. Cavazos was very happy with how she looked. She also lost the rest of her umbilical cord and mom couldn't wait to give her a good scrub down! She seemed to like the warm water, but not the actual bath.
Jillian's doctor called this morning with an update and she maintained her glucose levels over night, so out came her PICC line!!! She now only has monitors for her heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and a feeding tube. He also said that if she continues to do well through the day, she might get to move to the Progressive room tomorrow. That's the last stop before rooming in to go home. We are so grateful that there is a light at the end of this tunnel! We're ready to be home and begin enjoying our family of four.
We have video of Avery's bath, hopefully I can get it posted tomorrow. For now it's bedtime before little miss decides to wake up to eat.
Love,
Brooke

Aunt Laura and Avery

Well, Avery and I have officially moved in with Mom and Dad since Wes has to go back to work. We are so grateful for the time we had at the RMH since it was close and was a lifesaver when we had to go back and forth between two hospitals. We have more space here now and aren't as worried about waking everyone up when Avery decides she doesn't want to sleep.
The girls are doing great! Avery was wide awake and "played" on her activity mat this afternoon for a long time, which could account for her passing out and not eating for Grandma while Laura and I were in with Jillian. Jillian is taking 40 mL now for her feedings and gets to use a bottle 2-3 times a day, she gets too tired to do them all.
It's going to be hard to not have Dad around all day, but he'll get to visit in the evenings. We are so grateful for all of our love and support, thank you everyone!

Jilly looking much better!

Most of my tubes gone!

Avery!

Burps like a sailor!

Today was a great day for all of the McCurrys!! Avery's doctor called this morning and said she was ready to room in, so we're here at Harris spending the night with her. If all goes well, she goes home with us tomorrow.

Jillian's doctor called this morning and told us her recovery was going so well that she's moving out of the Pediatric ICU and back to the NICU! She looks so much better and was all smiles and eyes open when she arrived back in the NICU. They began feeding her again this evening, 10 mLs of breastmilk every 3 hours, and she's taken all of it from a bottle! The focus for her now is that her body heals from surgery, she eats well, and gains weight. We're hoping she won't be too far behind Avery with her discharge. All of the nurses and doctors are impressed with her recovery. She's a strong little girl and proof that prayer works.

We feel so very blessed to have these two babies in our lives. Please continue to pray for Jillian's recovery so that we can be a family of 4 at home very soon!

the nice people at cooks gave us a build a bear gift certificate, Brooke built a monkey for Jilly
